Dry hair no more: DIY Deep conditioner

About a month or so ago, I tried an experiment with a DIY deep conditioning treatment. I thought I’d be all awesome and record said experiment on video so that y’all could see how it worked at the same time as me. The thing is, I tried a new video recording technique (recording right into Youtube) and well…it failed. The audio works, but the video gets choppy…in multiple places.

I kept debating whether or not to re-film, but ultimately I decided that it just wouldn’t be the same, so I’ve opted to post the video for you guys to see. Please try and just power through it, I promise that when it freezes, it will start again. Annoying to watch? Yes…and I apologize. If you don’t want to watch, just go off the ingredient list below and try it out on your own. This treatment is great for all of those who ‘no poo‘ and are going through a dry hair phase. After this experiment, my hair felt so soft, and my scalp felt conditioned. Pretty amazing what a few items from your pantry can do for your hair! In fact, this makes me really want to try out more homemade beauty treatments.

Ingredients:

+ 1 Cup Mayo

+ Hefty squirt of honey

+ 1-2 tbsp Olive Oil (optional…I just used the Mayo that’s made with Olive Oil)

+ 1/2 an Avocado (optional – I didn’t have one on hand)

+ 1-2 Raw Eggs (optional)

Mix all ingredients together and then lather onto hair. Cover with saran wrap, plastic bag, or shower cap and let sit for 30 minutes. Rinse out massaging generously to make sure to get everything out. Wash with usual shower routine (I used my ‘no poo‘ routine and it worked great.) Use monthly to keep hair free from dryness.

Have you tried a similar homemade hair treatment? What did you use/how did it work for you?
